Turning Miles Into Memory: Inside Sprint Finish Studio
The story of the Edinburgh-based brand transforming race routes into art.

In Focus
Born out of Edinburgh’s running scene, Sprint Finish Studio reimagines how runners celebrate their achievements. Instead of generic race posters, the brand transforms Strava routes and race data into custom-designed prints - equal parts artwork, memorabilia, and storytelling.
Founder Dean Hutcheson describes it as capturing “not just their time, but their why.” From PB chasers to charity runners, each piece is designed to reflect the story behind the miles, with options to customise backgrounds and details.
Already collaborating with local events and clubs, the studio is pushing toward a bigger vision: expanding its product range, creating art that acknowledges not just runners but also their supporters, and partnering with organisers to make race-day memorabilia more meaningful.
Whether it’s an ultra route proudly displayed or the dream of layering all six World Marathon Major routes into one print, Sprint Finish Studio is reshaping how running culture is remembered - one route at a time.

The Story
Dean’s idea came from a simple gap: the posters handed out at marathons felt generic, like merch rather than meaning. As a runner himself, he knew race day deserved more.
“Race day is full of emotion: the relief of crossing the finish line after months of training, the pride of running for charity, or carrying the memory of someone who couldn’t be there. Everyone has their own story behind the miles. What we do is simply help people put that story into a form they can keep.”

From Strava to Studio
Every print starts with a runner’s data: their Strava route, finish time, and any stats they want highlighted. “Because every runner’s data is unique, no two prints are ever the same,” Dean explains. Customers can even upload their own images as backgrounds, making each piece both stylish and personal.
Global print partners handle framing and shipping, so runners can celebrate their miles anywhere in the world - without big shipping costs.

More Than Memorabilia
Asked if Sprint Finish Studio makes art, memorabilia, or storytelling, Dean’s answer is simple: “A bit of all three.”
For some, it’s about PBs and stats. For others, it’s the why behind the run - a cause, a memory, or simply the grind of training. The flexibility to customise lets each runner decide what story they want to hang on their wall, making each artwork as unique as the race it represents.

Building Community
Starting in Edinburgh, Sprint Finish Studio is already connecting with clubs and organisers to be present at events. Dean’s vision goes beyond runners: he wants to create products that also recognise the friends and family who support them.
“We don’t want to be a faceless online store. The goal is to be present, to collaborate, and to build a community around what we do.”

Favorite Stories
One standout commission? A runner in the Czech Republic who ordered two prints for the same 100km ultra - one for a DNF, one for a finish the following year.
“There’s a stigma in the running community about not finishing. I thought, fair play for wanting to honour that effort. That’s exactly the kind of honesty I love.”
Looking Ahead
Dean dreams of one day completing (and printing) the World Marathon Majors:
“I love the idea of layering all the Majors routes together with finishing times - that would look incredible on a wall.”
Until then, Sprint Finish Studio is carving its own path: a brand that reminds runners their stories don’t end at the finish line.
